What is Carpenter's Son Publishing?
Carpenter's Son Publishing is an independant publishing company that helps authors get their books published. We call our process “Custom Publishing”. Because the author funds the production of their book, they have total creative and editorial control over their book. Under a contract with a traditional publisher, the publisher reserves the right to choose the title, design the cover, edit the manuscript like they see fit, and ultimately, own the intellectual rights to your book. But under Custom Publishing, our authors call the shots. They determine the title, approve the cover, have final say over the editing of their book, and own the intellectual rights to their book.
How does this work?
We start the process with a consulting phase. We analyze the author’s manuscript to determine what is needed to write a great book. Working with the author, we determine what services are needed to produce a great book. We then determine what the final book will look like. We assemble a team of experienced editors, proofreaders, typesetters, illustrators, cover designers and printers. The people who work on your book are experienced book people who work for major publishing houses by day and work on your book as freelance contractors. So the same people who are designing and editing award winning books for the major publishers by day are working on your book. Because we don’t have the overhead of a major publisher or one of the internet-based self-publishing companies, you get these quality craftsmen for a fraction of the price you would pay those entities.
What do you get when choosing Carpenter's Son Publishing?
We use the same major printers that the large publishing houses are using. But we use competitive bidding to get books printed for a low price. Finally, when the book is finished, we get your book distributed by Ingram, one of the largest distributors in the world. This means that, unlike the internet-based self-publishers, your book will be sold in over 2,000 bookstores and stored in two large warehouses where the stores can easily order your book.
